Trust and safety

Badges that say what was checked. Reports that get answered.

A rental site is only as good as its listings. Here is exactly what we check, what we don't, and what happens when something is wrong.

A renter and an agent shake hands at an apartment door; a scam phone stays far in the background.

What Mariam sees (design preview, sample data)

Three badges, three different promises

None of them is for sale.

  • Permit shown

The permit or licence the country requires, as the advertiser provided it: Dubai's DLD advertising permit and QR, broker BRN and office ORN; Saudi Arabia's REGA advertising licence and FAL licence; Qatar's broker licence. Missing where required? The listing isn't published.

  • Confirmed by the advertiser

Facts and availability the advertiser confirmed, with the date. When a confirmation gets old, the listing says "Not recently confirmed".

  • Checked by LeaseExact

Shown only when we actually checked something — for example a permit against the official check, or Egyptian authority documents in our review queue — with how and on which day.

Scams

The patterns to walk away from

Most rental scams look the same. If you see one of these, stop and report the listing.

  • Asked to transfer a deposit before a viewing and a signed contract
  • "I'm abroad, I'll send the keys" — and no one can show you the home
  • A price far below every similar home in the area
  • Pressure: "three other people want it, pay today"
  • Payment to a personal account that isn't the landlord's or the agency's
  • A permit number that doesn't match the official check

LeaseExact never asks you to pay on its behalf, and our assistants never give you a bank account. If a message asks for money before a viewing, don't transfer it — report it.

What happens when you report a listing

Every listing has a Report button: fake or unavailable, asked me to pay before a viewing, wrong price, photos aren't this home, or something else.

  1. 1

    We pause it

A serious report pauses the listing from search while we look.

  2. 2

    We review it

A person reviews the listing and may ask the advertiser for proof.

  3. 3

    We decide

The listing is corrected, removed or restored, and repeat problems close the advertiser's account.

  4. 4

    We tell you

You get an answer saying what we did.

What we promise

  • Payment never buys a badge or a better position
  • We say what we checked, and never imply more
  • Every badge has a date
  • We never ask renters to pay LeaseExact for anything
  • We never claim a government partnership or endorsement
